Revere Soccer offers three soccer programs: Instructional, In House and
Travel
INSTRUCTIONAL
Instructional
soccer is for children in kindergarten. Here they will learn the basics of soccer
in a casual, fun setting. Instructional meets on Saturdays at Hillcrest School,
at the corner of Everett and Revere Roads, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. For the first
hour, the kids will practice basic soccer skills. In the last half hour they will
divide up in teams and play a game. There are no set teams at this level. IN
HOUSE
The in house program is for first through fourth grades.
1st Grade Children
We combine the first grade boys and girls on the same teams to
allow for the first graders to play on their own. This league is intended to introduce
real games with pint-sized goals and referees (and rules) but preserve the fun
atmosphere for children this age. With
this emphasis on soccer education and fun, no league record of team scores is
taken, and there is no league championship. At the first grade level the teams
are coed and have a parent volunteer coach. The coaches organize practices where
they teach soccer basics and strategies. They play all games at Hillcrest School,
at the corner of Everett and Revere, on Saturdays. We
play two seasons per year. Fall season runs late August through October and Spring
season runs April through late May.
Second Grade through Fourth Grade Children At
this level there are two leagues, one for boys teams and one for girls teams.
Both the boys and girls leagues play at Richfield Woods Games last for one hour
and are refereed by paid middle/high school student referees. The emphasis
is again on fun but continuing the education of each child on positioning and
skills development is a part of the play at this level. With this emphasis on
soccer education and fun, no league record of team scores is taken, and there
is no league championship. At this level the leagues are separated into play for
boys and for girls, and each team has a volunteer parent coach. The coaches organize
practices where they teach soccer basics and strategies. They play all games at
the Richfield Woods, off of Broadview Road, just north of the Richfield Square,
on Saturdays, with a paid middle/high school student referee.
